Most people spend weeks choosing door colours, then pick the oven in ten minutes. That’s backwards. You’ll use your appliances every day, and the German appliance brands we fit are a big part of why a kitchen still feels good ten years in.
At KitchenSMART we design, supply and fit Schüller kitchens with appliances chosen to suit how you cook. Here’s a plain guide to the names you’ll see on our appliances page, and how they differ.
01. Bosch, Siemens and Neff: One Family of German Appliance Brands
Here’s the bit most people don’t know. Bosch, Siemens and Neff all come from the same group, BSH Hausgeräte, based in Munich. Bosch has owned it outright since 2015, and Neff has been part of it since 1982. Gaggenau sits in the same group at the very top end.
So the engineering underneath is shared, but each brand has its own focus. Bosch is the dependable all-rounder. Siemens leans into tech and sleek styling. Neff is built around people who love to cook.
Neff started in Bretten, Germany, in 1877, and its best-known feature is Slide&Hide, launched in 2002. The oven door slides away under the cavity so you can stand right at the oven. See the current range on the Neff UK site.
02. Bora and Liebherr: Specialist German Kitchen Appliances
Bora was founded in 2007 in Raubling, Bavaria, and does one thing brilliantly: hobs that pull steam down into the cooktop. No hood over your head. It’s ideal on an island where a ceiling extractor would block the view.
Liebherr makes fridges and freezers, and has done since 1954. Its BioFresh drawers hold different foods at different humidity and temperatures, so salad and fish last longer. Pair them with a Quooker tap and you’ve covered the three things you touch most.
“Choose the appliances first, then design the kitchen around them. Moving an oven tower late in the plan costs more than people think.”
03. How to Choose Between German Appliance Brands
Start with how you cook, not the badge. Bake a lot? Neff’s Slide&Hide is hard to beat. Want an island hob with clear sightlines? Look at Bora. Big family shop every week? Liebherr’s fridge space earns its keep.
Then match the appliances to the cabinetry. Built-in ovens, integrated fridges and venting hobs all need the right housings, so it pays to plan them together. Our kitchen planning service does exactly that. If you’re weighing up budget, our Schüller kitchen cost guide shows how appliances move the total, and our premium vs standard kitchens post covers the cabinets.
04. See Them in Real Kitchens Near You
Every appliance we supply is fitted by our own installation team, so the housings, plumbing and extraction are done right first time. Browse our recent projects, such as this Matera kitchen in lava black, or visit the Linford Wood showroom.
We fit kitchens across Milton Keynes, Bedford and Northampton. For the cabinet side of the story, read our guide to German kitchen brands.
05. Frequently Asked Questions
Are Bosch, Siemens and Neff made by the same company?
Yes. All three belong to BSH Hausgeräte, a Munich-based group wholly owned by Bosch since 2015. They share engineering but each brand has its own design focus and features.
Which German appliance brand is best for a kitchen island?
If you want a hob on the island without a hood overhead, Bora’s cooktop extractors are built for exactly that. We’ll check the layout and ducting route at your free home visit.
Can you supply appliances with a new kitchen?
Yes. We supply and fit appliances from Neff, Bosch, Siemens, Bora and Liebherr as part of the kitchen, so everything is specified, housed and fitted by one team.
